Breezes- Nassau Bahamas
Where do I even begin? Like everyone, I read the reviews on Breezes and was unsure of what to expect. Thank goodness I went for it and booked our little stay. This was a surprise trip for my husband, Jamie to celebrate his birthday.
The drive to the resort was only 15 mins, so it gives you plenty of time to spend your day out in the sun! We arrived around 1130 and were unable to check in the room until 3:30-4:00. They greeted us with their signature drink (Bahama Mama) while discussing the check in process. The front desk staff are exceptional! They gave us our arm bands and directed us to the shower/changing room, so we could start enjoying our stay.
The resort is older and was built in the 70’s with the last renovation completed in 2011. You will see some areas that need paint, or cracks that need to be fixed…but that is all aesthetic. The resort sits on a wonderful stretch of Nassau’s Cable Beach, with white sands and clear blue waters. The views on the beach are breath taking!! You can rent a cabana on the beach for $50.00 and it comes with a cabana boy/girl. Great investment if your skin is pale like mine. The pool did have some cracked tiles, but nothing unsightly. They have a pool bar and activities going on. The staff at the bar, one word…AMAZING!!!! I want to give a shout out to Trenise, Michelle and Brittany. It is not often you go to a resort and they make you several drinks to try until you find the right one. I must say it is nice to start your day off with a “Yellow Bird”. They also have a Beach Grill by the pool and we recommend the jerk chicken.
We stayed in the upgraded ocean view room. Rooms are a decent size, but I have two complaints: They do not have a refrigerator (you can get one for $10.00 per day), and there is NO balcony as listed. The balcony is not even big enough to stand on. Housekeeping staff made sure we had clean towels and our room was kept very clean. They even gave us two t-shirts on the bed our first day along with rose petals. Bathroom was nicely sized and we loved the shower…great water pressure!
As far as food goes. We did have the buffet our first night there, mainly because I thought reservations were needed for the restaurants (they are not). Restaurants are first come first served basis. The buffet food was good, they did not have much to choose from and the presentation could have been more upscale. The Japanese restaurant, Munasan had excellent food. I will let you know, it is not Hibachi like most of the resorts offer. Servers were attentive and took great care of us. Our last night there we ate at the Garden of Eden. You can sit in or outside, of course we chose outside. I would say this place is mediocre. Food, blah and they really need to amp up the atmosphere. Oh, almost forgot…every night they offer “Snack Attack”!! Starts at midnight and they have a bunch of tasty treats.
Entertainment: The band did the same show every night in the main gathering area. They do offer entertainment in other parts of the resort and you definitely need to check that out. The club offered lip sync karaoke, sumo wrestling and many other activities to get the guest involved. I recommend that you participate and have fun, after all that is what being on vacation is about.
I hope I did not leave anything out. I am overall pleased with this resort. Breezes, has exceptional staff and I would recommend staying here. Kudos again to the whole Breezes staff for making this a great mini getaway.
